Rugundawhowas supposed
tobe thechief guest, in a
speech read for himby the
Minister of Agriculturedecried
Uganda’s lowproduction of
coffeeas opposed to the
country’s potential amidst
increasingglobal demand of
coffee.
“Coffee is abackboneof
Uganda’s economy and as
government wearecommitted
toensuring that we increase
our productionandproductive
whichwill directly lead to
incomegeneration at house
leading to social economic
transformation” an extract
from his speech. He also
recognized the role of private
sector anddevelopment
partners for the technical
and financial investment in
Uganda’s coffee sector.
At the end of this 2nd
international coffeeday
celebration, it was clear that the
private sector was at the same
wave length as government in
committing towards achieving
the vision of 20m (60kgs) bags
by the year 2020. Since the
coffeeday, the clock is turning,
and it remains just amatter of
time to see howmuchprogress
the sector will show to the
world.
