UCF is a non-profit organization and is registered as a
company limited by guarantee. Its purpose is to represent
All KeyPlayers (farmers, processors, traders, agents, brokers,
roasters, exporters, banks, insurance, collateral managers,
research, input suppliers and consultancy firms) in the
Coffee sector to have a common forum for private sector
interests in the coffee industry inUganda. I havepickedon
the followingcoreobjectivesasa reminder:
Protect, promote, and safeguardbusiness interests.
Createandpromote soundbusiness relations.
Promote private sector advocacy of policies and
dialoguebetweenGovernmentand thecoffee industry.
Promote the sustenance of highquality and standards
in production, processing and marketing of Uganda
coffee.
Collect, collate and provide information on coffee for
theuseofmembersand thegeneral public.
Engage in thepromotionofUgandacoffee.
Theobjectives listedabovearepertinent andoffer an
enablingenvironment for theoperationof anefficient
coffee industry.
It is important to also note that the membership of the
Federation is sourced fromawide spectrumof stakeholders
and therefore the need to heighten the recruitment and

achievements and accomplishments for the coffee industry
and no single publication gives us the opportunity to
celebrateand reflecton thesemilestones like thecoffeeyear
book.
A big thank you goes to the newly appointed Board of
Directors, the secretariat and all members of the Uganda
Coffee Federation and similarly to the stakeholders (UCDA,
USAID –FF, aBi Trust e.t.c) who have supportedUCF greatly
throughout the year. Going forward I count on you to
achieve the common objectives for which the Federation
wasestablished.
I alsowish to expressmy appreciation to thePast President
David Barry and his team Ishak Lukenge, Robert Waggwa-
Nsibirwa, Hannington Karuhanga andAyub Kalule for their
inspirational leadership. They set the pace and we shall
endearvour to keep the momentum with their continued
support andguidance.
Governance
Aswe start anew tenuremymind run to thecore reason for
whichUCFwasestablished. Iwouldwishtoremindourselves
of these core objectives as they are the guidelines upon
whichour existenceas aFederationand level of satisfaction
by itsmembership shall be judged.
