Despite this slowdown in volumes, our farmers remained
resolute in the face of this eminent danger. For us as a
business, we’re equally concerned about the dangers
posedby theclimatechange inas farassustainabilityofour
sector isconcerned.Owing to theabove, asacompanywe
scaled up our investment and direct support to farmers in
order toadapt to thisnewphenomenal wherewemanaged
to distribute amounts shade trees ,high quality seedlings,
in-puts, and continue prominent presence of extension
services in thecoffeegrowing areas of Uganda.
Wealsoventured intonewmarkets forUgandancoffee.And
our global strategy has prioritizedmarketing of Uganda as
an origin of superior Coffees inAfrica. To this end, this has
attractedmore attention for the origin.
Ugacof credits Government of Uganda’s increased
Interest, support and funding of the coffee sector. We are
part and parcel of the initiatives to scale up production
and productivity in order to realize the set vision of 20m
bags by 2020. As private sector players we think this is a
realistic target ,and is achievable if we work together on
consolidating all efforts aimed at increasing production
andproductivity.
On our part as a company, during the just ended coffee
Year we continued to keep our promise of growing our
strategic partnerships with institutions/communities and
farmers in areaswherewe operate.

Development Authority Mr. Henry
Ngabirano, a coffee man that played a
pivotal role in the sector. Presided over
the stability of the business with keen
interest to assist in every possible way
all challenges that affected individual
players and the sector at large. We
are proud of his service and wish him
a rich retirement. Similarly, we wish to
welcome thenewDirector,Dr.Emmanuel
Iyamulemyeandpromiseour fullsupport.
All indicatorsarepointing toanewGood
coffee year-2016/17 where we expect
increased volumes with improved
quality for both Arabica and Robusta.
